From the Associated Press:Jude Law returns to West End in ‘Anna Christie’
LONDON (AP) — Jude Law will return to the London stage this year, playing a sailor who falls in love with a prostitute in Eugene O’Neill’s “Anna Christie.”
Law stars opposite Ruth Wilson and the play opens in August at the 250-seat Donmar Warehouse, where Law starred as Hamlet in 2009.
Law is currently reprising his role as Dr. Watson in a sequel to Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Homes.”
“Anna Christie” is part of a farewell season for artistic director Michael Grandage, who steps down in December. His nine-year tenure has seen a string of successes, including “Frost/Nixon,” ”Red” and “Hamlet,” all of which transferred to Broadway.
The season, announced Friday, also includes John Osborne’s “Inadmissible Evidence” and a production of Shakespeare’s “Richard II” with Eddie Redmayne.

Jude Law goes back to school
Recently Jude took part in the launch of a new theme for a short film competition that involves the London 2012 Olympics and Peace One Day. From the London 2012 website:Actors and film makers Jude Law and Jeremy Gilley joined London 2012 Cultural Olympiad Director Ruth Mackenzie at Petchey Academy secondary school in Hackney, a member of the London 2012 Get Set network, to encourage young people to make short films inspired by the theme of ‘Truce’ for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad competition, Film Nation: Shorts.
